Right now I am reading the book Captivating, and it is amazingly eye opening. One thing that really stood out to me is when the authors are explaining about Eve, and how she wasn't just an afterthought. God started with the least intricate things during creation, and worked His way up. The last thing He created was Eve, and she completed the creation. Once she was created, He looked and saw that it was good. He saw that each thing He had created was good, but when He stopped and looked at His creation as a whole before creating Eve, He saw that something was missing. It was not good for man to be alone. So she wasn't an afterthought. She was hugely important. She was created to be ezer kenegdo. This has often been translated as a helper, helpmate, or companion. But when you look at what it actually means, it is something much more, much more powerful than that. It means a companion of power and strength. In 1 Corinthians 11:10 Paul reminds us that, "For this reason, a woman must have power [or authority] on her head [that is to say, invested in her]."
Therefore, it is important to remember that "What God had intended, then, was to make a "power" or "strength" for the man who would in every way "correspond to him" or even "be his equal."" http://www.godswordtowomen.org/studies/word%20study/ezerkenegdo.htm

There is some good information in there, but there is also some misleading theology. You might read Chris' review of it so that your eyes are open as you go through it.
